Staying motivated and inspired can be one of the biggest challenges. It’s so easy to want to sit on your butt for an entire day and do absolutely nothing. Do you ever feel you are scrolling on social media and see what others are doing rather than taking care of yourself and find yourself some what “wasting” a day? I know I’ve had days like that. We all do. And although it’s okay to vege out and aimlessly scroll once in a while.. we are only on this Earth once.. so why not make the most of every day and not get caught up in what everyone else is doing? Below, I’ve listed four things that help me disconnect and stay motivated to MY aspirations and goals.
Turn the Phone Off
Alright, I have a love hate relationship with our digital world. I love it because it is an incredible way to connect with friends, businesses other creatives etc.. life is a lot easier with technology let’s be honest. But.. I hate it because we have all become incredibly reliant on our phones. Next time you are at a restaurant, at an airport or even walking to work notice how many people are staring at their phones. It almost seems like a security blanket at times for people…this. fricken. stresses. me. out. Soooo… a way I control this and relieve my anxiety from this digital attachment we all have adapted, I turn off or silence my phone for a minimum of 2 hours a night. It feels so good to disconnect and not give two f’s what people are doing (I mean that in the nicest way possible). :-)
I love love love reading poetry. I honestly found a lot of the poetry that I love online. I’ll put on a good playlist and read some of my favorite poetry to calm my mind. My go-to, favorite poets are Alex Elle, Atticus , Morgan Harper Nichols and Rupi Kaur. People who can create art using words truly amaze me.
