Hello gal pals. It’s been a minute. Hope everyone is having a good day! It’s snowing here in Denver (fml) .. so I’m inside catching up on the blog and having a self care day. Heck I think I’m going to take a bath after I write this. Anywayss.. I’ve wanted to write this post for a while now.. but heck let’s be honest it’s taken me a while to start finding my own style.

I’ve found that finding your style isn’t something you finally one day just fully figure out and you wear the same exact outfits for the rest of your life. I’ve found that it’s about evolving being open to new trends and finding confidence in the pieces you choose to wear.

If I had to choose three words for my style it would be..

classic, femme and simple

I think fashion is one of the coolest forms of art. I get inspiration from a multitude of other bloggers, Pinterest Tumblr and people just walking on the street. Every once in a while look up from your phone and observe others around you. I’ve noticed so many trends by just observing.

Here are a few ways I’ve found that help me find my style and invest in the right pieces..

-Make fashion pic collages or inspo boards. I use photoshop but Pic Monkey is also a great option too.

- Write a list in your notes on your phone of different pieces you want to add to your closet. (ex: black pair of sunglasses, Doc Martens, oversized Sweaters etc..) Writing a list helps me not purchase impulsively.

-LookBooks. I frequently look at lookbooks online that different brands publish on their sites. Faithful the Brand has some incredible ones. Check their lookbooks out here.

I’ve found that as I’ve grown older I’ve started to invest in good quality pieces rather than buying a high quantity of fast fashion items. For me it’s all about investing in my wardrobe on pieces that will last me decades rather than ones I will just give to Goodwill the next season.

I hope you found this post somewhat inspiring or informative. Again.. style is an evolution and something that you figure out along the way. So be patient with yourself, don’t be afraid to try new trends and wear everything with confidence.

"You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it." — Edith Head.

"Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It’s something reflected from our soul to the outside world—an emotion.”—Alber Elbaz

"You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life. Without it, you’re nobody. I’m not talking about lots of clothes.” —Diana Vreeland

Talk soon babes.

Hello my lovely blog readers! <3

A lot of newness in my life happening up in here. If you are an avid reader of my blog first off, I appreciate you. second off you’ll probably notice I haven’t posted in a bit. Why might you ask.. ?? I’ve been livin.. but also I’ve been super stressed to be honest. It’s been a fun yet poor girl summer. :)

I was full-time freelancing this summer and as rewarding as it is.. sometimes people are shitty and don’t pay correctly or at all.. which we can all agree is fucked. So.. I’ve lived and learned when it comes to business ventures and always making sure there is some sort of written contract in place.. anywaysss I’m a firm believer everything happens for a reason and one thing always leads to another better thing, as on this earth we are always evolving.

Speaking of evolving.. my mom and I started a PODCAST?! Whaaattt. If you haven’t listened yet go listen I’d love you forever. It’s fun and rewarding having a voice behind the filtered life of Instagram and blogging. In addition to starting this new podcast I also started a new job working for Aritzia a company I love that fits my exact style and “brand.” It’s been fun and good to be around inspiring and fashionable people again! If you haven’t heard of Aritzia do yourself a favor and check out their stuff. You. are. welcome.

Oh! I also turned 23! You know when some years seem to fly by .. this one didn't lol. This was a longgg year of me figuring out what the hell I’m doing with my life after graduating college. For anyone out there, the first year out of college is a confusing one.. so my advice.. just trust in the timing of your life and know everything does eventually work in your favor.

Alrighty.. It’s late and I’m sick with a bad cold and need some serious zzzz’s.

Talk soon and in the meantime follow and listen to us on WHAT’S YOUR TAKE pod!

CUTEST SWIM under $50!

I miss living near the ocean and justifying every reason to buy a new swimsuit. That’s the one thing Colorado unfortunately doesn’t have.. an ocean. Within the next 2-3 years I want to live near the ocean again.

Living vicariously through all you beach bums this summer!

I linked a few of my favorite suits below all under $50!

How to Incorporate "Sustainability" in Your Shopping

Fashion is unfortunately an industry which contributes mass amounts of pollution to our Earth.

There is not a way to avoid the fashion industry or clothing as a whole..(at least not for me) but we can choose to be more of a conscious consumer.

I’ve listed a few ways I have found that are easy for me to use while still staying true to my personal style and buying taste.

Re-usable Shopping Bags or No Bags at All.

Get in the habit of saying “no” when the store cashier asks if you need a bag. Let’s all make a conscious effort to use reusable bags or no bags at all.

Screen Shot 2019-06-28 at 3.25.48 PM.png

Aim towards having a minimalistic closet. As I’ve gotten older I am able to pinpoint more and more of an exact style while still branching out and trying new trends. That being said I still have minimal pieces I wear at least every week. Invest in pieces that will last you a long time and can go with multiple outfits. For me that is denim and shoes.

Thrift shopping or second hand shopping. This one is a no brainer. But obviously it’s always good to incorporate “hand me down” or secondhand pieces in your closet. There are some GEMS I have found during my times at Goodwill.

Every time you buy something new get rid of something that is collecting “dust” in your closet. There are people out there that would put the clothing you don’t wear anymore to good use. This is an easy way to make sure you are using the majority of things in your closet and not overly buying things that either you already have or don’t really need. I keep a list on my phone of “wants”. These “wants” are items I feel like I need in my closet but that I have time to think about or wait til it goes on sale. This list helps me purchase less impulsively and ultimately save more money. My virtual closet is a way I also save and track upcoming purchases that I want to make. Shop my closet here.

I hope you liked this post and that it inspired you in some way.

The New York Times, Get With The Times

I feel very honored to be partnering with the  @nytimes to promote the event “Get With the Times.”
This past Weds, April 17th the NY Times hosted a live event series for college students, dedicated to interviewing influential entrepreneurs and politicians.
I always love hearing the different stories of entrepreneurs. It’s reassuring to me to know every successful entrepreneur starts somewhere. This event was right up my alley.
I was asked to focus on Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit. Alexis Ohanian discussed what it takes to build a business, coding, crypto currency and his future business plans. He is such a cool, driven and hard working guy who isn’t slowing down anytime soon! Alexis is also married to Serena Williams.. so cool! Watch his interview here.

How great is this bag??? I’ve been using it daily to load up all my stuff for the day before I go to a coffee shop to do work. Here is a link to some NYT swag for anyone interested. :)))

If you are reading this far you are a true hero. Just want to say that I’m currently taking a hiatus for posting on Instagram and am focusing on working on some cool content and gaining my inspiration and creativity back. I haven’t been feeling myself lately and have been in a creative rut. But thank you thank you for all who follow along and read my blog. Good things are coming and I am working hard on doing blogging and photography full time! Again I appreciate all the support and I promise good things are coming. This sponsorship def helped re gain my confidence in my creativity so thank you NYT and IHC. :))))

q + a.

I get the random DM here and there about this or that. So here ya go.

q: how old are you?

a: 22

q: did you go to college? if so .. what was your major?

a: yes, I went to Eckerd College a small school right on the water in St. Pete, FL. A DREAM. I majored in International Business.

q: when did you start blogging/photography?

a: Soph year of college for fun but started getting really serious with it my senior year of college. :)

q: why did you move back to Colorado?

a: I grew up here and things just lined up so perfectly this past summer I couldn’t leave.. I’ve been able to grow a lot on my own and figure out what I want to do with my life. it’s also been so nice being around my family during this weird transition period from college grad to real life. Also Denver is a really cool city I’ve come to love even more.

q: who takes all your pics?

a: self timer boiii (and sometimes my cute mama). I’m honestly kinda uncomfy being in front of the camera when someone else is taking the pic or directing. I like doing self timer bc I don’t feel obligated to pay someone or return the favor etc and I can get the shot and move on with my day! .. Unless it’s Paige, I feel so comfortable in front of the camera when she’s shooting!

q: is this your full-time gig?

a: Nope. Right now I have a marketing job with a company called Next Gen, in addition I am currently helping rebrand and restart up my boss’ boutique @shoprockink. I love it and love being busy! My blog and IG are side hustle that also provide revenue. :)

q: “do you friends or fam think it’s weird you have a blog? I want to start one but am scared what people think of me…”

a: if they do they haven’t told me. sometimes people say annoying comments mocking my blog or something I posted on Instagram.. but it doesn't really phase me anymore. I don’t live my life to please others, and you shouldn’t either. :-)

q: I want to start a blog but where do I begin?? how do I even start??

a: I made and wrote an entire blog post on this because it’s my #1 faq. Read the post here.

q: dream career

a: this

q: what camera do you use?

a: Canon Rebel T3i

q: do you shoot film, what film camera do you use?

a: I also get this question a lot.. I don’t shoot film. I guess I just edit in a way that looks like it. I use a lot of grain and the app RNI Films.

q: have you ever considered doing a YouTube Channel and do vlogging?

a: Yes. It’s crossed my mind. Not now but maybe soon.. seems cool and I love documenting my life and moments that occur.. but also I think i’d feel weird filming myself. So we will see… never say never...

q: what/who inspires you?

a: my family. they are my biggest support system and we support each other always regardless of physical distance!

hair clips for the win

My 5 year old self would be SO happy to hear that hair clips are back in style!! I used to wear them all the time. This is a trend I felt I need to hop on ASAP. I went a litttleee crazy the other night online “window” shopping for hair clips.. so.. I’ve linked some of my faves below. xx

let's chat: my story of anxiety

So I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now..but haven’t., mainly because “anxiety” seems like a trend now and I feel like everyone and their mother has it and frequently mentions it. Which yes is TRUE, everyone has some form of anxiety. We are human. But honestly my type of anxiety was pretty damn severe. I tried for YEARS to control it different ways through meditation, therapy, yoga, natural vitamins, breathing techniques etc.. but over the years and nothing working it finally became something I needed to take meds for because I couldn’t shut my mind off and it was consuming my life.
Flashback to middle school, 7th grade Maggie. I started a new middle school in 7th grade. Which, is one of the ballsiest things a 12 year old tween could do. I remember being so nervous on the first day of who I was going to sit with at lunch. I knew two girls that went to the same public school from my neighborhood.. but..they were the “cool girls” at middle school and definitely didn't want to be seen with me. So, I’m sitting in 3rd period on my first day wondering who I was going to sit with at lunch, when the bell rings and the cutest brown haired, freckled girl comes up to me and asks if I want to sit with her and her friends at lunch. Hannah, I am forever grateful for you. After that, middle school wasn’t even that bad. I had friends and got invited places. But yet.. I still had crippling anxiety mostly about the past or future. I remember always being scared when I heard a plane from my room because I was convinced it would crash into my house. When my brothers would play x box in the other room, my ears literally couldn’t take the tiny noise I would scream STOP CLICKING. Literally WTF. Max, Charles you were so patient with me and probably thought I was insane in the membrane at the time. Which I was. I remember hyperventilating frequently during class that teachers would see me, recognize it and immediately send me to the nurse. It was bad.
High School comes, and honestly the anxiety is better. Some family problems settled themselves and life was good. I was so busy with school, my classes and dance team that I didn't have time for anxiety and irrational thoughts. I must say though.. I wasn't the most confident or coolest in high school and just kind of did my own thing. Anxiety came once in a while but not as frequent. Senior year of high school I was torn to go in state for college or out of state to my dream college on the beach. Instead of letting my anxiety getting in the way and choosing the “safer” option I chose to take the leap and attend Eckerd College in St. Pete, FL. Which may I add, I will later discover was the best thing that ever happened to me.
Freshman year of college was a FUN time and I was SO happy at Eckerd. But there were SO many times my anxiety got in the way of my true happiness.I really knew deep down that I was happy and my anxiety was just trying to ruin my life. I literally couldn’t shut my mind off no matter how hard I tried. Finally, after continuous panic attacks at night in my dorm second semester of freshman year, my parents suggested I see a physcartrist to get on anxiety/anti depression meds. And boy oh boy did this change my entire life. I’m not kidding.
I am now on 100mg of Zoloft which is pretty high. I started at 25mg and the doctors pushed me up to 100mg. These numbers might give you an idea how bad my anxiety is. I’ve been on Zoloft for 3.5 years now and I’m a happy, anxiety free camper. I still have anxiety but it is manageable and more logical. I’ve never had my mind feel so clear. I’ve never been able to live in the present like I can now. It’s a beautiful thing really for my mind to be healthy and well again. I don’t see a therapist anymore and see my physiatrist once every three months for a “head check.” She asks me how I’ve been feeling, makes sure the dosage is still the right dosage, writes the script to Walgreens, and I get on with my life.
There you have it folks. That’s the story of my anxiety. Will I be on meds my whole life? If need be. hell yes. But if I don’t, that’s a hell yes too. Whatever it is I know there are ways out there to treat anxiety and that life doesn’t need to be so stressful and anxiety filled. Are meds the answer for everyone? No. I am no doctor and will never be. I don’t know what personally works for everyone. All I do know is that it IS a curable thing.
Hope you guys enjoyed this read and if you’ve read this far I love you and I’m sorry if there are spelling or grammar errors. I said earlier I’ll never be doctor. I will also never be a English teacher or a grammar police. But never say never..
This isn’t an Oscar speech lol, but I do feel inclined to say thank you to my family who has helped (and still loved) me at my worst and best states, as well as all my friends in my life who make me so incredibly happy. You all are the GOATS.

staying motivated, inspired and learning to "disconnect"

Staying motivated and inspired can be one of the biggest challenges. It’s so easy to want to sit on your butt for an entire day and do absolutely nothing. Do you ever feel you are scrolling on social media and see what others are doing rather than taking care of yourself and find yourself some what “wasting” a day? I know I’ve had days like that. We all do. And although it’s okay to vege out and aimlessly scroll once in a while.. we are only on this Earth once.. so why not make the most of every day and not get caught up in what everyone else is doing? Below, I’ve listed four things that help me disconnect and stay motivated to MY aspirations and goals.

Turn the Phone Off

Alright, I have a love hate relationship with our digital world. I love it because it is an incredible way to connect with friends, businesses other creatives etc.. life is a lot easier with technology let’s be honest. But.. I hate it because we have all become incredibly reliant on our phones. Next time you are at a restaurant, at an airport or even walking to work notice how many people are staring at their phones. It almost seems like a security blanket at times for people…this. fricken. stresses. me. out. Soooo… a way I control this and relieve my anxiety from this digital attachment we all have adapted, I turn off or silence my phone for a minimum of 2 hours a night. It feels so good to disconnect and not give two f’s what people are doing (I mean that in the nicest way possible). :-)

I love love love reading poetry. I honestly found a lot of the poetry that I love online. I’ll put on a good playlist and read some of my favorite poetry to calm my mind. My go-to, favorite poets are Alex Elle, Atticus , Morgan Harper Nichols and Rupi Kaur. People who can create art using words truly amaze me.

Face masks

My friends and I refer to our night “to do” lists constantly. We consider a night “to do” list essentially the long unwritten list or routine you do every night before bed. Mine always includes washing my face and putting on a face mask almost every night. I’ve become a face mask connoisseur! Below are some of my favorite facemasks.

Call a Supportive Friend or Sibling

Sometimes when I’m feeling down it just feels nice to talk it out with someone who knows me well. Someone who can offer advice but also can be a good listener. I talk a lot on the phone with my older brother Max or best guy friend Spencer. Max and I are both kind of on a similar path and both striving for careers in the entertainment industry. Me in fashion and Max in acting. I saw a psychic once and she told me Max and I are twin flames. And I fully feel that. Whenever him and I talk on the phone it’s very refreshing because we both support each other indefinitely. No matter in distance how far someone is from you.. they are always just a phone call away!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. I’m no expert in this category whatsoever.. but these are different methods that have worked for me!

5 Favorite Places I've Traveled to In My 20's

I’ve been very fortunate to travel to many places in the last two years, that have been on my bucket list for years now. Traveling is very therapeutic to me and something I never want to stop doing. There are SO many cool places I that want to see and photograph. I find I like to spend my money more on life experiences than material items.
I’ve listed 5 of my (recent) favorite places in no particular order.

San Francisco

I traveled to San Francisco for my 21st golden bday with my fam. San Fran is eclectic and I loved every minute there! Some of my fave places we went to were: the Golden Gate Bridge, Height Street and the Painted Ladies (the Full House houses). View the San Fran photo collection here.

I traveled to Bali last January with three of my best friends. (Morgan, Paige and Spencer). We had a trip of a lifetime that consisted of sunshine, açaí bowls and surfing. We “stumbled” upon a small beach town called Canggu and couldn’t leave! It’s was the town for us and we were living in a dream. We didn’t want to leave.. I mean could you resist $15 massages, $5 surfing days and $3 poke bowls?! Sign me up. FOREVER. View my Bali photo collection here.

My cute mama and I traveled to France for my graduation present this summer.
We traveled to Paris, Lyon and Nice. We had lots of wine and the trip of a lifetime. Paris is one of my absolute favorite cities in the world and I would love to live there someday even if it’s just for a year.
Nice, France is right on the French Rivera and has amazing Italian influence.. as well as the best gelato and people dressed to the tens. My mom and I decided we MUST go back.. like this summer mom?? View the France photo collection here.

NYC might seem like a no brainer but man am I in LOVE with this city. Again another place I’d like to live someday.. Traveled to NYC twice with my bff Paige/fave travel buddy. She is just as obsessed with photography and fashion as I am and we couldn’t stop taking photos in NYC.

LA/Santa Monica

LA is a place of fashion, sunshine, dreamers and hard workers & I’m obsessed. View the whole LA post here with recs and places to go!

5 Pieces You NEED To Spice Up Your Closet

Since graduating college and transitioning into the professional world, I’ve decided to INVEST in my wardrobe. This means purchasing pieces I know will only accentuate my style and that I’ll be able to wear for years. It’s amazing because now that I’ve invested in pieces like these, I find myself purchasing less and less clothing items each month! I’ve also found that I am more thoughtful with my purchases and always try to look for the best deal.

Below, I’ve listed 5 Wardrobe Pieces that I believe everyone needs to spice up their closet, as well as some of my fave picks!!

A versatile jacket

cute n comfy pair of kicks

the perfect pair of shades

A stylish hat for those bad hair days

everyday jewelry

Let’s do this thing! Where you can find me..

building a brand/blog

The first thing to do if you’ve thought about building a blog for a while is to START. You never know if you don’t try! The two best platforms to build a website in my opinion are Squarespace or Wordpress. I’ve been using Squarespace for years. Squarespace has plenty of templates to choose from, all which are easy to manage and personalize.

Maybe it’s just me, but you don’t need fancy photo stuff (Lightroom, Photoshop a DSLR etc or a photographer) to start. Honestly half my IG/blog photos are shot on my iPhone with self timer or my mom helps me shoot them. I edit every single one of my photos with VSCO or just iPhoto filters and add a little grainnn. Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be.

developing a style

If you’ve been following me for a while now you might remember my og Instagram theme was everything pink. Looking back I CRINGE now.. but it helped me develop a style and a following. I like to think I’ve improved since then.. haha. But over the years I’ve come to realize people follow me because they like my style whether it is my outfits, photography or me as a hooman?? IDK just be true to you and create what you want and people will choose to follow if they vibe with ya. Insta algorithm is messed up these days so honestly I’ve just been posting whatever the heck I want.. and it seems to be working???

working with brands

I always say everything is just an email away. If there is a company or brand you’d love to work with/promote why not shoot them an email? All email addresses you can find under the contact or about section on most websites. Typically starting out companies will send you product for free to promote. It takes a longgg while to start getting compensated for blog and Instagram posts.. trust me. But.. when you do start to it’s amazing. I can do a blog post on that later if you all want!!

This post is just about getting started. There are an abundant of things I could ramble on about (Reward Style, Commission links, Sponsorships etc..) so if you guys want me to talk more in depth about this world please let me know!!

But let’s be honest I’m just winging it and learning something new every damn day.

hope you guys liked this.

talk soon xx

  1. Reformation

  2. Revice Denim

  3. Prana

  4. & Again Denim

Being trendy doesn’t have to kick the planet. The problem is, fashion is the world’s third largest polluting industry in the world. The truth is, society as a whole isn't just going to stop shopping and stop with fashion entirely, but.. we can choose to be more of a conscious consumer. Check out my five favorite brands that I love not only because they are sustainable and use fair practices, but have the cutest stuff too!!

hello 2019

honestly as I’ve gotten older New Years has become one of my fave holidays (can’t ever top Thanksgiving let’s be honest !! ).

It’s a beautiful thing I believe, to be able to say goodbye to things in the past year that no longer serve you and hello to new & exciting things in the future.

My mom is a huge advocate for goal setting and every year she has always encouraged us (my brothers and I) to manifest what we dream to.

My parents have never pressured us into “realistic” career. For example..

Max is currently working towards being a full-time actor (follow him and check out his hilarious IG vids) and Charles is a college hockey player whose work ethic, passion and drive will lead him far in his hockey career.

I know people proabably don’t give a flying funk about my New Years goals.. but I need to write them here and publish them so it’s out in the world and I can stick to them. Keeping it to 5 this year.

  • travel to 3 new places (in or out of the country)

I’ve got a massive list of places I want to travel too, so really the options are endless.

  • read more.. like wtf

now that I’m out of college & I have time to read.. and it doesn’t have to be a boring textbook I really have no excuse not to pleasure read. I’m aiming to read a book a month this year.

  • healthy living

typical yes. but obviously it’s important to eat healthy and take care of the body. I want to workout at least 3 times a week and pay attention of what I am eating and fueling my body with.

  • grow my brand/business

I love creating for companies and working along side brands I feel passionate about . This year I want to expand my brand and blog audience as well as work with a multitude of rad brands. My main goal being working for myself full-time through this platform.

  • put your phone down

As much as I’m grateful for it.. my work is more and more managed solely through my phone and laptop. I want to monitor the time spent on my phone when I’m not working and place it somewhere when I don’t need it where it’s out of sight out of mind.

cheers to the NEW YEAR!

hello 2019
